 Walk For Water  around Puxton Park

2 Mile Sponsored Walk

Sunday 12th October - 5.30pm

2 miles is the average distance an African woman or child has to walk to find water.  Women and children spend much of their time searching for and carrying water.  Children often miss out on their schooling to provide water for their family.

Thank you for taking part in this walk: EVERY PENNY raised will go towards completing a Community/Resource/Councelling Centre in Ulumbai.  When finished, it will provide facilities for orphans, widows, single mothers and those with HIV/AIDS, and over 2,000 people will be given access to clean safe drinking water for the first time.

What you can do to help: Entry is FREE.  Details & Sponsor Forms can be collected from Puxton Park Reception.  Please encourage your friends, family and workmates to also register and take part by email to brian-humphries@btconnect.com or by phone 01934 523864 or they can just sponsor you.  T-Shirts can be ordered at £4.00 each (Puxton t-shirts will say Puxton Walk for Water 2008)

2 miles is a 45 minute walk for adults and children and the route is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

PLease raise as much sponsorship as you can, and dont forget gift aid.  If every tax payer ticks the gift aid box on the Sponsorship Form an extra 20% will be raised.

Together we can make a BIG difference

On the Day of the Walk:  A route will be marked out on the day passing the amimals in the fields.  There will be empty buckets to carry if you want, and they can be half filled or filled at the half-way point.  Refreshments will be available and between 6pm-7pm we will be handing out certificates to everyone who completes the walk and has raised at least £10 in sponsorship

 10 Reasons for taking part in the 2008 sponsored 'Walk For Water'

1  Because you have a good heart!  How often have you thought about helping those suffering from extreme poverty in Africa.  Well this is your big chance

2  Every Penny you raise will go directly to Kenya! No costs are deducted, unlike donations to charities like Water Aid & Tree Aid

3  If 100 people raise £100 in sponsorship, we can complete the resource centre roof and provide clean, safe drinking water to the site.

4  Gift Aid! If 100 people raise £100 in sponsorship, and all the sponsorship is from UK Taxpayers, we will raise another £2,00, enough to provide a fully stocked library

5 You are not being asked to donate £100! We want you to raise £10.  Get 20 people or more to sponsor you for £5, and help make a difference.

6  Clean Water is a basic human right! Think how easy it would be for you to raise £100 or more, then to walk the short distance of 2 miles.

7  Walking is good exercise! Make it a family, friends & family, or workmates event.  A 2 mile walk will be fun and easily completed by all ages.

8  It will make you feel good! Helping others worse off than you will give you a warm feeling inside.  How long could you last without water?

9  We live in relative 'luxury' compared to them! So let's help lift these people out of the poverty trap.  Go on, I dare you, take up this challenge!
