Weston Lion’s Real Ale and Cider Festival 201719 Jul 2017
The Weston Lion’s Real Ale and Cider Festival has become a staple summer event on the seafront in Weston-super-Mare which Puxton Park has supported from the very beginning. Running from the 28th to the 30th of July in a marquee tent set up on The Beach Lawns of Weston-super-Mare, opposite The Grand Atlantic Hotel, the festival will showcase over 120 beers and ciders.
The festivities open with the charity dinner and race night, where local groups and businesses can buy a table for the evening (tickets have now sold out for this event). The following two days have a more relaxed, family atmosphere with live music from jazz bands. Local businesses can offer to sponsor a barrel of beer, but Puxton Park goes a step beyond supporting the festival as a major sponsor. So far, the festival has generated over a quarter of a million pounds for local charities and is run entirely by volunteers organised by the Weston Lions. This year, they hope to raise funds on behalf of Macmillan nurses, the Alzheimer’s Society, Breast Cancer Now, and Prostrate Cancer UK.
The Weston Lions themselves are in their fiftieth year and are a contingent of the international Lions organisation, which is in its centenary year. Puxton Park turns ten too, so there is a lot to celebrate. If you would like to contribute, either with your time or money, please contact Chris Nelson on 01934 625765.
