Puxton Park proudly announces the acquisition and installation of a vital life-saving device, a public access defibrillator, within the premises of Puxton Adventure Park.

This significant addition, procured through our partnership with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), underscores our unwavering commitment to emergency preparedness and the safety of our visitors and staff.

GWAAC is North Somerset’s local air ambulance charity. Attending an average of five patients every day, their Critical Care Team attend the most seriously injured in our shared community, bringing the level of care and specialist equipment only usually found in a hospital. In 2023, GWAAC attended 262 patients in North Somerset and 32% of these call outs were for cardiac arrests. For every minute that passes without defibrillation and CPR, a person’s chance of survival goes down by 10% and sadly less than 1 in 10 survive.

GWAAC collaborates with businesses across Somerset to ensure they are well-equipped for emergencies. This initiative empowers communities to proactively safeguard against cardiac emergencies by placing defibrillators in easily accessible locations, significantly increasing survival rates for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest.

Puxton Park's defibrillator has been integrated into the National Defibrillator Network, known as "The Circuit," providing vital information to NHS ambulance services across the UK for rapid access during critical moments following a cardiac arrest.

"At Puxton Park, the safety and well-being of our visitors and staff are paramount," said Alistair Mead, Managing Director at Puxton Park. "We are honoured to partner with GWAAC in this initiative and the installation of this defibrillator signifies a significant enhancement of safety measures within our park."

Lisa Warrington, Defibrillator Coordinator says “We are delighted to work with the team at Puxton Park to get another life-saving defibrillator into our communities and thank them for their hard work to make it happen. CPR and defibrillation make a massive difference to someone surviving a cardiac arrest – from less than a one in 10 survival rate to over seven in 10.

GWAAC’s incredible crew are the first to say that bystanders stepping in during the precious early minutes before they arrive are crucial to the chain of survival.”

Puxton Park invites other businesses and communities to join us in acquiring a defibrillator through this collaborative initiative. Whether through direct purchase or fundraising efforts, this partnership opportunity offers accessible options to ensure defibrillators are available where and when they are most needed.
